Business Process Mapping

What we do:

Process mapping has been used to tackle business problems since the early 1930s. Today, it is ideally suited to improve complicated health care processes that can be created by the myriad of forms, databases and staff types across multiple departments and organizations.

Simple high level flow charts sometimes work – and where they can, we use them. More often, however, capturing reality means using something a little more sophisticated. We use a range of mapping methods; such as Ben Graham Mapping, Value stream Mapping and State-Flow diagrams – we have the experience to know the right mapping tool for the challenge at hand. We always do mapping by walking with the people who do the work through the care process, then validating our maps with staff in cross functional meetings.

How you benefit:

Doleweerd Consulting will use business process mapping as a tool to help you:

  • Get control over unwieldy processes,
  • Ensure a consistent level of service quality by standardizing processes across people, care sites and departments,
  • Eliminate waste and free clinicians to offer more time for client care,
  • Prepare for electronic solutions, ensuring care processes are optimized before they are automated,
  • Design new simplified processes
  • Create directories of process maps that can be updated by you for continuous improvements.
  • Get staff involved in quality improvement.

Business process mapping can help you and your Senior Management teams develop a common understanding of your core processes and set stretch performance goals for each. We can guide your team to ensure that quality improvement through process redesign leads to sustained results.
